Come to Blue Rock Horse Park for the complete
Intensive, hands-on learning of all aspects of horseback riding AND horse
husbandry. Learn how to do barn chores, train horses, be in horse shows, horse colors
& their genetics, grooming, feeding and other care, body language and horse
psychology, safety, and Western and English riding from rank beginner
through Intermediate Level.
Each session is 1-2 hours long, to
provide an unrushed, immersive experience, where many find they are entering
"Horse Heaven" !
Our students and their families often become our friends for life.
Registration is extremely limited... we teach only one student per day,
only 4-5 days per week.
Lesson starting times range from 11 AM until an hour before dark.
Again, there are no group lessons or
recreational trail rides available,
though trail riding is one of the many skills that can be learned here.
DUE TO INSURANCE
REGULATIONS, NO VISITORS ARE PERMITTED, INCLUDING VOLUNTEERS,
UNLESS AN OWNER (Horse or property) IS PRESENT.
This applies even to those who have been given
special permission to visit in the past.
Prices: $40 per 1-2 hour session, or a prepaid package of 3 sessions for $100
($33.33... each). Scholarships may be available, based upon need and interest level of
the student. We can accept accept cash, PayPal, credit cards or checks.
If you or the student are not sure of their interest level, we offer a
half-hour introductory visit at no cost, where you will get a tour of the
facility and a description of what we do. You will be able to pet the horses and
feed them treats from behind a fence. Email, text or call for an
dressing properly means
following the guidelines in the lesson handouts (see
point # 4 on this page: Safety )
but also dressing WARMLY ENOUGH for winter weather.
This means winter coats, at least two layers on the legs
(snow pants with leggings underneath are ideal),
hoods or knitted caps (smooth on top to fit under a helmet, but
if yours have pompoms etc.,, we can provide the kind
that will work), gloves, warm socks (two layers, like wool hunting-type socks
with cotton crew-height socks underneath, is ideal) and boots
(rain or snow boots are fine).
We have disposable hand warmers
that can be put into gloves or boots!
(Miss Barb will be using those on cold days.)
Just ask about them if we forget to offer them.
AND if you/your student doesn't
have clothing like that, please just ask about
it, and we may be able to help!
*WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO
SEND STUDENTS HOME IF THEY SHOW UP
IN WHAT WE CONSIDER TO BE UNACCEPTABLE CLOTHING.
IF YOUR STUDENT "WON'T WEAR" WHAT YOU THINK THEY SHOULD,
DON'T BRING THEM.

we've given our
